Ras Al Khaimah, a new destination in UEA to discover

Last week, shortly before my last deadline and hading back home for Christmas I have attended a dinner event hosted by a tourism development of Ras Al Khaimah and PR Media Co. It was my first travel related event and a first "forma" event that I have attended and I have such a nice evening!

First of all, I'd like to thank for having me there and for exploring a new destination of United Arab Emirated. We were just about 15 people together with PR Media staff, chief executive officer of RAK tourism development and a representer from Qatar Airline.

When I first step into the room, I had already a great Christmassy feeling, the room was big, nicely decorated and also the dinner was held in a Covent Garden hotel, therefore the staff from hotel were also very helpful. I was immediatelly greeted and approached, after a short talk, drinks and canapes we sat down for a presentation. To be honest, I haven't heard about Ras Al Khaimah until the event (or maybe a bit before as I was researching about it when I they have sent me the invite). But still, hearing from people that has experience it sounds always much better.

Let me introduce you a bit to this appealing new destination. Ras Al Khaimah is one of the seven emirates of UAE. Ras Al Khaimah is situated at the Northern tip of the Arabian Gulf. The county offers an endless of choices for new adventures or for lesuire holidays. I was fascinated by the choice. You can have all in one holiday, enjoying lazy days on the beaches, going for adventure to mountains or to desert. It is a definitely a county which is more authenic in culture, they have their own airport situated nearby or you can get there easily from other international airports too. It is just a 45 min drive to Dubai for those who want to have a day for shopping and more fancy stuff.

Overall, I had enjoyed learning more about this and already put it down to my 'To Go List Destinations', and hopefully very soon. To be honest with you, all I always heard about was eithee Dubai or Abu Dhabi, and I wasn't keen on going there that much, it wasn't on my top list to go, however getting to know more about other counties in UAE, I re-thinked about it and might give a chance to fly there and experience it myself. Additionally, with Qatar Airlines there is a direct flight! Yay!

Have you heard or been in Ras Al Khaimah? What are your thoughts on discovering new less touristy places?
